How to add an item to an estimate

This article provides a step-by-step guide on adding a new item to an estimate or proposal in Bolster, specifically for items not currently in your catalog. This process ensures your new item is fully detailed and ready for inclusion in your proposal.

1. Open your Estimate, then select "Add Item"

2. Enter the name of your item, and then click the cube icon to the right.

3. Click "Unit pricing"

4. You may now update the unit pricing and enter cost type details (Material, Labor, Subcontracted, or Combination).

5. There are optional details you can add under Material costs shown here:5-Jan-09-2026-01-00-00-6509-PM

6. Click on the price ($0.00) or the unit measurement beside Material Costs to update the cost according to your chosen unit of measure.

7. Optional: Save the item to your catalogue for future use.

8. Once all of the details you'd like to include are completed, exit to complete.
