Introduction to the Scheduling tool in Bolster

The Scheduling tool helps you sequence your construction tasks, manage timelines, and keep your team aligned. Before building your project schedule, you need to ensure all project items are set up correctly.

This guide walks you through the process step by step.

1. Set Up Your Items with Correct Construction Stages

Before using the Scheduling tab:

  • Go to your project.

  • Add items from your existing template.

  • Click into each item and navigate to the Production Detail tab.

  • Find the Construction Stage column.

Update the stage for each item:

  • Double-click the stage field.

  • Type or select the correct phase (e.g., “Demolition,” “Site Clearing,” “Plumbing”).

  • Repeat for all items in your project.

Why this matters:
The Scheduling tool uses these stages to organize and visualize tasks in the timeline.

2. Open the Scheduling Tab

Once your items are labeled with the right construction stages:

  • Go to the left-hand menu.

  • Click Scheduling.

You’ll now see a visual timeline based on the construction stages you've defined.

3. Adjust the Timeline

From here, you can:

  • Drag and drop items on the schedule to change start and end dates.

  • Reorder tasks within each stage.

  • Assign dependencies (e.g., make “Drywall” start after “Framing”).

Changes here update the dates across your project.

4. Confirm and Share

  • Review the schedule to make sure all phases flow logically.

  • Use filters to toggle views by construction stage or team member.

  • Export the schedule or share a live link with your team or client.

Best Practices

  • Keep construction stages consistent across all projects.

  • Use templates to save time and ensure standardization.

  • Regularly revisit the schedule as changes occur on-site.
