How do I use My Tasks in Bolster?
My Tasks is your home base for assigned work. Find it under Project Management in the left sidebar, filter by task type or team member, and track tasks by due date (including “No due date” and “Future”). As you complete tasks, you can also choose to make them billable right away or handle billing later from the linked project.
My Tasks is a single dashboard that shows the work assigned to you (or anyone on your team) across all projects. It organizes tasks by due date/timeframe, then groups them under the project they belong to—so you can focus on what’s due next without hopping between jobs.
Where do I find My Tasks?
You can find My Tasks in the left-hand sidebar under Project Management. It’s the last option in that section.
How do I assign tasks so they appear in My Tasks?
Tasks appear in My Tasks once they’ve been created and assigned to a team member inside an estimate/project.
A typical workflow looks like this:
-
Create task items inside the project (for example, “Landscaping,” “Trim branches,” “Site excavation,” “Plumbing,” etc.).
-
Assign each task to a teammate (e.g., Henry, Johnny, or Patrick).
-
Add the tasks to your schedule (optional but recommended) so they receive due dates.
If a task does not have a due date, it will still appear in My Tasks under No due date.
How do I use My Tasks day to day?
Filter what you’re looking at
At the top of My Tasks, you can filter by:
-
Task type (Task items vs. work/labor items vs. materials items)
-
Team member (defaults to the currently logged-in user)
-
Search by task name (useful when you want to find one specific task fast)
Understand how tasks are grouped
My Tasks groups tasks into time-based buckets, such as:
-
No due date (anything not scheduled)
-
Specific due dates (once scheduled)
-
Future (for scheduled tasks beyond the near-term view)
Within each bucket, tasks are then grouped by project, so you’ll see sections like:
-
289 Seacrest Boulevard
-
184 Forest Hills Drive
Show more tasks
Each time bucket shows up to 5 items by default. Click Show more to reveal the rest.
See what’s coming up next
My Tasks only shows due-date groupings up to 5 days from the current day. Anything further out appears under Future until it gets closer.
How do I complete a task and make it billable?
When you check off a task as complete, Bolster will prompt you with an option to Make billable.
-
If you mark tasks complete but don’t make them billable yet, you’ll see a banner like “Some items are complete but not billed to the client yet.”
-
That banner can include a direct link back to the project so you can make the completed item billable later.
-
Once you make the task billable, the indicator changes (the pill turns green in the demo), and the “not billed yet” banner disappears.
