How do Custom Lead Forms work?

Build a custom lead form, choose who receives and is notified about leads, and connect the form to your website so leads go straight into Bolster.

Overview
A custom lead form lets you link your website to Bolster so every lead who fills out the form goes straight into your leads in Bolster. You build the form, choose who receives the leads and notifications, then add the form to your website using the HTML code or a POST endpoint.

Open Custom Lead Forms

1. In the left-hand menu, click Marketing.

2. Click Lead Forms.

3. In the top right corner, click Custom lead forms. A list of your existing custom lead forms opens.

Build Your Form

The Custom form editor tab is where you build and edit the form. The Form preview on the right shows what your leads will see as you make changes.

1. In the top right corner, click the + button (Create new).

2. In Lead form name, enter a name for the form (for example, Website Lead Form).

3. Scroll down the list of standard fields, such as First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone, Suite, Address, City, Zip Code / Postal Code and Project Details. Turn on the toggle next to each field you want your leads to fill out. Each field you turn on appears in the Form preview.

Add Your Own Fields

Above the standard fields, use the buttons to create your own fields:

  • Text field: a box where the lead types an answer.
  • Multi-select: a list of options where the lead can pick more than one.
  • Single-select: a list of options where the lead picks only one.
  • Dropdown: a drop-down list of options.

1. Click the type of field you want to add (for example, Text field).

2. In Name of field, enter the question or label for the field.

3. Use the Not required toggle to mark whether the field is required.

4. For a Multi-select, Single-select or Dropdown field, under Options, enter the Label (shown on form) and the Value (stored for lead profile) for the first option.

5. Click Additional option to add more options, and repeat step 4 for each one.

6. Repeat steps 1 to 5 for each field you want to add.

Set Up Lead Rotation and Notifications

1. Click the Settings tab.

2. Next to Lead rotation, click Choose.. and select the users that leads from this form will go to. If none are assigned, leads go to you.

3. Next to Who else should be notified?, click Choose.. and select the users who should be notified about every lead.

4. Optionally, in Success URL (Optional), paste the link your leads are sent to after they submit the form, such as a gallery or About Us page on your website.

5. Optionally, next to Lead source, click Choose.. and select the lead source for this form (for example, Instagram or Facebook) so leads are automatically sorted by source.

Add the Form to Your Website

1. Click the Integrations tab.

2. Choose how to connect the form:

  • Get form HTML: Click to expand it, then click Copy html. Give this code to your web designer, or paste it into your website yourself if you have an HTML website.
  • Get POST endpoint: Use this endpoint if you are connecting the form through Zapier.

3. In the top right corner, click Save. A Saved! message confirms the form is saved.

Why This Matters

  • Leads from your website go straight into the leads section in Bolster, with no data entry.
  • Lead rotation and notifications make sure the right people on your team see every new lead.
  • Lead sources let you see automatically where your leads are coming from.
