How to Enable CSLB Contract Pages for California

Got a California-based Conctractor Business? We've Got You Covered

If you operate in California, you're probably aware of the need to include CSLB-required contract pages on every signed proposal PDF. With Bolster, you can easily tick a box that attaches the required Contractors State License Board (CSLB) contract pages to your proposal. And when a client signs, they can download a compliant PDF that includes all the necessary contract content and cancellation notices.

What is CSLB - And Why Do Contractors Need to Worry About It?

The Contractors State License Board (CSLB) is California's state agency that governs the construction industry. And if you're a licensed contractor in California, you know that California law requires you to include specific contract language and cancellation notices in home improvement contracts. Bolster makes this headache go away with a single click of a button.

How to Turn on CSLB Contract Pages

  • First off, open up an estimate
  • Head over to the Proposal tab
  • Look for the gears icon (Presentation Settings) at the bottom of the menu
  • Scroll down to the bottom where you'll find Estimate Visibility Settings
  • Just tick the box to turn on Include CSLB Contract Pages
Once you've done that, Bolster will automatically add the required pages to the proposal PDF every time a client signs.

What Do Clients Get to See?

When a client signs a proposal with CSLB pages enabled, they'll receive a PDF that includes:

  • Page 1 - The total contract price
  • And subsequent pages featuring all the line items from the estimate
  • A signature section where the client can sign their acceptance
  • And of course, two Notice of Cancellation pages as required by California law

Downloading the Signed Contract PDF

So, what happens when a client signs?

  • Bolster generates a complete, compliant contract PDF

How to get to it

  • You can also grab the signed PDF from your end in the same proposal
